Summary: Perfect Everyday/Weekend Cookbook!
Comment: This is the first cook book I have bought in at least a decade. I have my favorite recipes and occasionally try out a new one from the Internet or a friend. BUT ... the "5-ingredients" of this book's title attracted me to pick it up; the clarity and the simplicity of the ingredients and the methods encouraged me to buy it; the delicious results mean that I use Nava Atlas' book at least 3 or 4 times a week, whether I have just got in from work or am planning something ahead. Soups are delicious; potato (sweet and/or white)and vegetable recipes are scrumptious; soy recipes are fresh and interesting, and there are some new slants on grains, salads and dips. I love the new tastes and the ease of putting things together. THANK YOU, NAVA!!

Summary: Indespinsible.
Comment: This is a fantastic cookbook. Not only does it have great recipes (which are ready in a flash, more often than not, as well as being brief in the ingredients), it encouraged me to remember that the best dishes I serve are often the ones in which a very few items shine forth in their best light. Handy for anyone, vegetarian or not, but especially for the cook who wants to whip up a veggie dish without breaking the bank at the market.

Summary: 5 Ingredients? Yes. Gourmet? No.
Comment: I am definitely not the most experienced or gifted cook around, but this book was a bit too basic, even for me. As someone who eats strictly vegetarian, I own a few veggie cookbooks, and this is the one that gets the least use. Most of the recipes are solidly mediocre. A couple are pretty bad. None have been outstanding so far--though to be fair, I have yet to try every single one. In sum, if you are going for very quick and easy, you may like this cookbook. But if you are looking for a little inspiration in a recipe, this is probably not the book for you.

Summary: my current favorite
Comment: I love this book! I have had it for a couple of months now and use it 3-4 times a week, no repeats yet, and I have liked everything I made! My meat-loving husband has liked everything too and that's saying something. True, everything is very simple and you are not going to get complex, truly "gourmet" flavors from these recipes. But if you are like me (someone who loves to eat, but finds cooking boring unless I am in the mood) this book is perfect--everything is really easy, quick, cheap (only 5 ingredients!) and also very colorful and so very visually appealing-- for simple, healthy everyday food I don't think you can really ask for more. You could also easily add in ingredients to make the recipes more interesting-- I have done this successfully several times. I also really like the menu suggestions since I don't always like thinking of what foods go with what.
