Customer Rating: Summary: Volcano Disaster Movie Comment: This was alright. If you have nothing else better to watch, this will pass the time quite adequately. This film came out at the height of the Hollywood Studios all taking advantage of the sudden interest in disaster movies, probably because special effects and visual effects were beginning to take off and they all wanted to experiment and the audience all wanted to see those things, or was just in the mood for cliched overly hyped entertainment with no heart or mind. Pierce Brosnan and Linda Hamilton manage to do okay with what they're given, as far as the secondary actors and one liner actors, they should try acting, instead of standing there knowing they're being filmed, instead of pretending to be a character and forgetting the camera is there, because believe me it showed over and over. The absolute worst. Can the Director be blamed? Or the casting director, the actors themselves, or all of the above? Clearly they'll put anybody in a movie.
Customer Rating: Summary: Dantes Peak its wonderful Comment: I watched the Dantes Peak back in 2005 unfortunately the cd was stolen. so my happiness is renewed when i purchase another copy from Amazon. For those interested in Geography, Dantes Peak will keep you at horizon, I wonder no matter how much you watch the DAntes Peak, it calls for more watching.... it is is really wonderful.
Customer Rating: Summary: DON'T LOOK BACK! Comment: In the quiet town of Dante's Peak, the locals are celebrating their award for second best place to live in the United States.Meanwhile, there is fire on the mountain above just waiting to let go,and only one man knows it.Peirce Brosnan stars as Harry Dalton,an expert volcanologist who sees a serious problem coming for this quiet little town.Unfortunately,Harry cannot seem to convince his boss or the city councel that something fishy is afoot. As most survival/nature movies go,there is lost love...and love anew, stubborn people, and a really awesome/unstoppable truck to keep our hero and his posse safe through all kinds of offroading. If you loved Twister because of the Dodge Ram, you will faint over this movie.Unlike it's same year counterpart "Volcano", Dante's Peak draws most of it's strength from it's commitment to realism and accuracy.Having been awarded for it's use of special effects, you will often feel as though you are seeing real footage of an eruption and the film also does a good job of portraying an unanticipated evacuation. Bottom line,Dante's Peak is a gripping thrillride about a mountian ready to blow and a town not ready to accept the truth. With a heartpounding score, great action and a good plot,it's no wonder why I enjoy this movie and I hope you will as well.
Customer Rating: Summary: The featurette alone is worth the price of the DVD Comment: The making of... featurette was worth the price of the DVD. It was well made and informative. The commentary was excellent as well. I had already owned a laser disk copy of this film when I purchased it which was well done in terms of visual and audio so purchasing the DVD definitely gave me value adds in terms of the extras.
The film itself is well done if you like drama and action thrills.
Customer Rating: Summary: Pretty good.... Comment: Dante's Peak kept me interested throughout the whole film. I think it is a little too far fetched but was good all the same.
