Summary: Dude, Where's my Tao?
Comment: Though there's nothing particularly toxic about "Master" Ni's books, I don't think they have much to do with Tao. Let's consider the evidence:

1)Ni proclaims himself a "Master" and touts his spiritual pedigree and credentials in many of his books.

2)He publishes many many books on Tao. He has much to say. He has many many "insights" to share. He rambles.

3) He places his own grinning visage on the cover of the book.

Now go read the Tao Teh Ching. Done yet? OK, now you can clearly see that all of the above directly contradict the most basic Taoist teachings. Read Ni if you must, but this is not the Tao.

Summary: Helpful for the materialistic Westerner looking for fulfillment
Comment: I take issue with the other reviewer who rated all NiHuaChing's books (and Master Ni) negatively. Let this person share his wondrous credentials. The person obviously has a personal grudge and I would be very careful and read at least one of NiHuaChing's books in order to properly JUDGE FOR YOURSELF. I met NiHuaChing several times in the late 70's, knew some of his students, and found Master Ni to be sincere in his desire to share knowledge which has been passed down from antiquity. His students learn everything from tai chi tailored to the seasons to herbology and Chinese medicine. In my opinion, Master Ni's books can be helful by themselves, or as supplements to your own studies and classes. He speaks plainly and never condescends. I have read several of his books and have found them to be quite steady and on the mark.

Summary: Workbook for spiritual development
Comment: I found this book to have many valuable exercises some which I have practiced daily and others more sporadically. Many of the exercises sharpen your spiritual powers, or open you to new opportunities. Other exercises add much needed protections from the negative influences of daily life. I would advise reading this book with care, and awareness so as to get the full benefit from it. This book has been a great source of guidance and comfort for me personally and I would strongly recommend it to anyone who is interested in developing their sense of virtue or their character in general.
