Customer Rating: Summary: Shimewaza Comment: As other reviewers have pointed out, this book is not written in English. This should not necessarily deter an interested reader. The pictures are quite good and a lot can be learned from them. All of them are in black and white. Some are a little small and in places, the detail of shimezawa is difficult to see. This could have been handled by dressing the demonstrating in different coloured gis, but through out the text, they both wear white.
The book is aimed primarily at judo practitioners. Almost all of the chokes shown would be known in Brazilian jiu-jitsu by a typical blue belt. It does not illustrate some of the more complex chokes of BJJ such as the Brabo choke, Ezekiel choke, or baseball choke, despite their usefulness in judo. The book does illustrate some interesting attacks on the turtle using shimewaza.
No matter how good the photos, the book is of limited value because it is not written in Engilsh. In spite of this, the low price and good quality of the photographs make it a reasonable value.
Customer Rating: Summary: Awe man! not spanish Comment: I didn't know that this book was written in Spanish until I received it in the mail. Luckily I stayed at a Holiday Inn express last night! Word! The pictures look like they are choking each other. I wish that it was in English!
Customer Rating: Summary: Just be aware, this is the Spanish Edition Comment: Excellent book, needs better quality photographs (the actual photographs just aren't up to the standards of the rest of the series). I now own the book in English and Spanish. The book is completely re-typeset for the Spanish edition, different cover, but darn, when I bought the second one I wish I had paid better attention and realized that the difference in the editions was that the second one was Spanish instead of English.
I was hoping they had taken clearer, sharper photographs.
Customer Rating: Summary: The best Comment: If you are interested in shimewaza this is the only book you need. Strongly recomended for judokas and any other martial artists.
