Customer Rating: Summary: not our style of self defense Comment: Battle Master is not our style of self defense, This is why I found it so helpful in expanding my self defense techniques outside of the traditional korean arts. My instructor always stated that "it was a good thing to look into other martial arts and see what they offer, to know only what I teach you would limit you, to learn from any opportunity is growth". I would highly recommend this book to all martial artists.
Customer Rating: Summary: poor Comment: This is a very poor book on drilling techniques, JKD, or for that matter self-defense. I would not recommend this book to any one serious about JKD.
Customer Rating: Summary: Different Comment: This book is not filled with the ordinary martial arts drills. It isn't traditional at all and this may explain why people either love it or hate it. The book has a lot of ways to train but not a lot of detailed techniques. It delivers exactly what is promised, a large collection of training drills that can be used to develop self-defense skills.
Customer Rating: Summary: Over-rated Comment: I don't know what book these other two reviewers read, they MUST be students of Elwood. This book is NOT representive of the Jeet Kune Do. This does not look anything like what my Sifu is teaching me, and he is certified under three of Bruce Lee students.
Customer Rating: Summary: an excellent, imformative book! Comment: Ballle master is one of the best written books I have read. This book has helped me to better understand the JKD philosphies, and has definately helped me with my training techniques. I have learned awesome training drills, and some helpful knowledge about JKD from this book. The battle master introduces reality into martial arts, which is what people should be realizing! all in all I would say the battle master is definately worth you time and money!!! ~jackie~
