Originally produced in 1982, this classic has been re-printed and covers all the requirements from white belt to green belt. Isshin ryu karate Grandmaster Angi Uezu expertly demonstrates all the essential movements in a step-by-step format. Included are the 15 Upper and Lower body basics, Seisan Kata, Seiunchin Kata, Naihanchi Kata, basic application of the kata moves, an in-depth section on the history and philosophy of Isshin ryu karate (as seen first-hand by the son-in-law of the founder, Tatsuo Shimabuku), self defense techniques and sparring combinations. This book is essential for any Isshin ryu karate practitioner or anyone wanting to improve their knowledge of one of the most popular Okinawan Karate systems.

Customer Rating: Summary: A must have for the serious martial artist Comment: Master Uezu personifies the principles of Isshinryu Karate. This book is an extremely useful text for the beginner to understand key fundamemntals of the Isshinryu system, and it's a great reference for the expert as well.
Master Uezu was the personal representative of Isshinryu founder Master Tatsuo Shimabuku. The history and techniques Master Uezu teaches in this book are exactly as they were passed on to him by Master Tatsuo Shimabuku.
As Master Uezu's personal student and his successor as president of the Okinawa Isshinryu Karate and Kobu-do Association, I highly recommend this book.
