Editorial Reviews:

Japanese police inspector Toshi and his American partner John are back in this sequel to His Beautiful Samurai. Toshi and John are still reeling from their last adventure, dealing with family issues and trying to get ready for Toshi's uncle's funeral. During the funeral preparations, Toshi realizes that his uncle's dear friend Tokuma was more than a friend, and that Tokuma needs his help. Fearing his nephew Yuzo has been kidnapped by the Yakuza, Tokuma asks Toshi and John to look into the young man's disappearance. Their investigation takes them into the murky underworld of the Japanese mob, and eventually leads them undercover to the temple of the White Tiger, a place of spirituality, love and danger. Learning the ways of the White Tiger opens John up to his psychic ability in unexpected ways, and brings the lovers closer than they ever thought possible. Through a series of unbelievably erotic encounters, John and Toshi learn the power of their love, and begin to believe that they can overcome anything, from Toshi's disapproving family to the mystery of the missing nephew. Can they find Yuzo before it's too late? Sedonia Guillone is the author of His Beautiful Samurai and My Hot Muse, stories that blend high eroticism with tender characters to create unique and powerful romances.

Summary: Beautiful Samurai, White Tiger
Comment: I enjoyed reading this book because it provided the back story of the uncle. It explained the reasoning behind his support and understanding of his nephew.

It would be nice to read of other adventures with this couple (please don't forget the partner).

Summary: Hot and romantic!
Comment: Tokyo detective Toshiro Genjin and American psychic John Holmes are back in "Beautiful Samurai, White Tiger," the knockout of a follow-up to last year's "His Beautiful Samurai." Sedonia Guillone once again skillfully combines elements of police procedural with erotic romance as this time the pair of lovers searches for the nephew of an old family friend, gone missing after being linked romantically with the son of one of Tokyo's most feared yakuza crime bosses.

Picking up only days after the events of "His Beautiful Samurai," Toshi and John trace the missing man to the Temple of the White Tiger, a private establishment where spiritual enlightenment is sought through intense sexual practices. That the owner and head priest, Kikuchiya Fujimara, just happens to be a former member of the same yakuza crime family with whom the young man was linked only complicates things as the detective and his psychic lover go undercover to find out more about what went on behind the gates of the exclusive establishment.

Part mystery, part romance, Guillone takes us into the underbelly of Tokyo's gay nightlife, where coffee houses, after-hours sex clubs and spas serve as a backdrop for the variety of players she introduces us to. Long-haired, pouty-lipped bosozoku boys, strap-wielding S & M doms who aren't what they seem to be, and stalwart police partners are all part of the mix as we travel with Toshi and John as they search for the beautiful, elusive Yuzo Kitano.

The heart and soul of the book, though, are John and Toshi as they feel their way along, trying to build a relationship in the chaotic midst of another of Toshi's unorthodox police cases. The pressure mounts as the story builds to its climax, with the sensual atmosphere of the Temple of the White Tiger so palpable it nearly qualifies as a character in its own right, and Toshi's difficult relationship with his disapproving father adds still more tension.

With steamy hot sex scenes amid a taut detective story, Guillone never loses site of the fact that "Beautiful Samurai, White Tiger" isn't just a romance or a thriller--it's both. She's delivered another of the beautifully crafted, passionate, emotive stories that have already made her one of the most trusted names in erotic romance.

Summary: White Tiger got lost..
Comment: I did not find this sequel as good as the first. We were lead to believe that John would find a psychic connection to the "White Tiger" because of his paranormal abilities. Together, he and Toshi would climb to another plain in their relationship, making it even better. I did not feel this thread was expanded upon in the story. In fact, Toshi and John had the same relationship but not as hot as in the first book. The opening paragraph when Yuzo is captured and bound was a let down towards the end when all was explained. In my opinion, there was not enough background or development of Kiku, Yuzo, and especially The White Tiger upon which the title is based! I could not connect with any of these characters.
Also their was continuous reference to the fact that Toshi would eventually confront his very stoic father regarding John and Keiko (his betothed). How Toshi was very apprehensive about talking to his father because of his non-existent relationship with him. A big buildup, but over in a few sentences and lacked any expunging of feelings. A disappointment.
I felt the story lacked the passion between Toshi and John, and that even John's visions were boring. Mainly, I did not feel that this White Tiger title was developed enough. I was bored with this story.

Summary: An erotic, sensual and gripping sequel which paves the way for much more.
Comment: I enjoy this sequel alot as Toshi, John and Natsuka are ensnarled in the Yakuza underworld and the dark side of Tokyo gay society during their lastest investigation in the disappearance of Yuzo, Takuma's nephew. Takuma is of course the long time lover of Toshi's late uncle and their love story is a stirring one as the writer gives us glimpses of their love through the decades.

What stands out in this sequel are the new characters and erotic setting within the Temple of the White Tiger. The founder of White Tiger is Kiku, the ex-right hand man of the head of the Yakuza. White Tiger is much more than a love-hotel for gay men, in which Kiku and his followers practice and embrace spiritual enlightenment through sex. It is the sanctuary for young gay men trying to escape the Yakuza's brutal cluches. Ryu and Yuzo are such young men, wanted as sex toys by the sadist Suzuki, the son of the Yakazu's head. Kiku has taken it upon himself to protect both young men and in the process loses his heart to Yuzo. I find Kiku's, Ryu's and Yuzo's story captivating.

The sequel also wraps up a few things for Toshi and John as the lovers reaffirm their love taking their sex to a new erotic high as they are introduced to the art of the White Tiger by Kiko and his young men. These are some steamy and erotic sex scenes here!

The story wraps up nicely with Toshi realizing how much his dead uncle has sacrificed and the ending when Toshi finds the courage to confront his disciplinary and cold father is one impactful scene.

The writer has given us much more than a satisfying ending to John's and Toshi's story. She has paved the way for more erotic and sexually charged stories involving the "White Tigers". And I am most glad that Sedonia has done just that with the recent release of the mesmerizing "Men of Phuket:Tongue Thai'd " (available in totalebound website), the continuation of Ryu's story, which I love even more. I wish Men of Phuket is available in print too!
