Customer Rating: Summary: Good Overall Basic Guide to Techniques for MMA and NHB Competitors Comment: This book, like all the books written by Braun and published by Meyer & Meyer, has the same good quality format and layout of material that has become a staple in these books. Color photographs printed on glossy paper and taken from good angles with contrasting backgrounds to make the subjects in the photographs stand out, well written and easy to read, but as always, there were sections that I felt could have benefited greatly with the addition of more detailed text. Now on to the specifics of this particular book.
As one might expect, this book is primarily geared towards the MMA/NHB competitor and shows a wide variety of techniques ranging from punching and kicking, to clinching, grappling, and joint techniques, which are, for the most part, explained fairly well and with some good detail. Obviously, there are areas that could have benefited from a bit more detailed descriptions, especially on some of the individual techniques themselves, but that is a minor annoyance.
Although I didn't agree with absolutely everything the author said in this book, I did find myself in agreement with quite a bit of it. This book is what I would consider a good basic overall guide to the techniques used in MMA/NHB competitions and if that is what you are looking for, then you won't be disappointed. However, if you are looking for books with a lot more detailed explanations on certain techniques, they are out there and are pretty good. Here are just a few of them.
