Summary: TMNT's Artobiography
Comment: I've been a rabid nut of the Turtles since I got my mitts on the Eastman & Laird comics in the 80's, so all this time later I couldn't believe my luck when I came across this book on Amazon. Bought it immediately and have been drooling over it ever since it arrived!

First off, there is not a square inch of page space wasted; it is packed to the brim with illustrations.

It starts with some really interesting background information on both Eastman and Laird, how they came together and formed their company "Mirage Studios" and some funky first character sketches of the turtles as well as news article clippings chronicling their growing success.

The majority of the book is TMNT comic layout roughs/ thumbnail sketches and cover art with brief descriptions, this book really is interesting if your a fan of the turtles but doubly so if you draw yourself, for it shows the whole process from start to end product.

I am very grateful that this book was created and gladly recommend it!

Summary: TMNT
Comment: This book is a great book. Thanks to my wonderful girlfriend, and her choice of getting it for me. All in all, it's a very interesting book, the only complaint I have for it is that it should have a little more actual context. In other words, more words. I didn't like the fact that after a few chapters it gets kind of repetative because of the lack of reading, if your into just the comic book sketches then this is it for you. If you want some more depth to the actual writing, then you probably won't be fully satisfied. I would recomend a read of course, and a buy for the TMNT enthusiast but other than my gripes, GREAT book.

Summary: A must have for any comic art buff!
Comment: It's been a longtime in the waiting but it's finally here. A massive HC compilation into the making of one of the biggest indie blockbusters in the comic book genre. Co creator Kevin Eastman shed's light on the making of the 1st dozen issues or so from the 1st TMNT series. Included are sketches, doodles, notes, etc. Hopefully Peter Laird decide's to put out his own art book too at some point down the road along with all of Mirage Studios' great works. 'nuff said!

Summary: A good look into the process
Comment: This is a good look into the process of the creation of the ninja turtles and some of the first issues. There are tons and tons of sketches, notes and various doodles for the first few books. There are also some really cool galleries and miscellaneous sketches.

For the most part, the book follows the first 12 or so comics(the ones Eastman and Laird both worked on) and shows thumbnails and finished illos for them. In the sidebars are little notes, which are sometimes illuminating, but mostly just kind of random.

I really like this book, but I would have liked more insight. It's great to see all this art (makes me wish sometimes they didn't use that icky toning stuff) and all these various covers, but most of the comments are random or not illuminating, which is a disappointment. It's still a great book. Lots of great art. A great coffee table book, and a steal at Amazon's price, and a must for TMNT fans.

This book is only for Kevin Eastmans point of view. I can't wait until Mr. Lair puts out a book.
