Editorial Reviews:
This is a Kung Fu book in CHINESE!, no english. photographs.
Almost kick boxing like in its immediacy and form, this WuDang style is shown in a book of excellent photography and many pages. This is a part two of a series for WuDang self defense. The actions here resemble nothing so much as that style called Nippon ShorinJi which is to say Japanese Shaolin. Knee butts, jump action, punches, kicks, stretches, warm ups, dodges all type of movements illustrate this get-to-it book. Said to be derived from Gao Jin-Shan and the Seven Immortals Secret Manual. The second book has hundreds of photos and detailed, well illustrated counters against grabs, strikes, holds and kicks. Nicely done, combat oriented.

Customer Rating: Summary: Fighting Technique from WuDang Comment: First, everyone should understand that this book is in the CHINESE language. That said the illustrations pretty much speak for themselves. If you have any Kung Fu or martial arts experience these applications will be pretty easy to understand. They are a combination of holds, locks, hits and kicks. Most of them start off from a fighting position like modern day reality fighting. The book has sections on kicking then following up, front hand strike then follow up etc.
Just about everyone has heard of Shaolin Temple Kung Fu. That's the most famous style in the world as well as in China. WuDang definitely occupies the #2 place there and, in fact, people sometimes divide ALL of Kung Fu into Shaolin or WuDang. Shaolin represents the Buddhist half of Chinese beliefs and WuDang represents the Taoist half. Tai Chi, for example, is said to have come from WuDang area. Taoist martial arts are practiced a little looser, softer and more spontaneous - at least in the beginning- than the structured Shaolin. So these applications are a little of the kind that might just appear during a fight. This is the second volume of a two-book series. The first volume demonstrates the moves for someone to practice all alone.
