Summary: SOG Power Lock - Best of the Bunch
Comment: The SOG Power Lock is the best of the multitool world! Smooth action, excellent quality, sturdy design. Some don't like the covers, some do, but if you use them they give you a second lock for your tools. Very strong. Nice thing is that you can remove the covers if you want - your option. With that said, SOG is the ONLY multitool that you can personally customize and buy extra parts for. So if you want to make your tool "multi-mission" and change some of the tools out for others, you can. ALL others brands will not sell you their parts - you have to return them to the maker for repair. This is a HUGE plus. The SOG is easy to take apart and clean using normal 1/4 inch nutdrivers - no special security screwdrive tips! Only downside to the SOG is the size and weight. Yes, it's bigger than most tools and it's heavier in comparsion, but if you really want one tool to count on, instead of a tool box full of tools - the SOG is the one. My Leatherman Wave is going in the drawer, get the SOG - you won't be sorry :)

Summary: Prefer my Gerber
Comment: I wanted to replace my Gerber Multi-tool for personal reasons and remembering the SOG with it's compound leverage, decided to go ahead a purchase one.
I'm afraid to admit I'm a little disappointed. Yes, it is easily opened with one hand, but it seems that's where the convenience ends. If you want to use any of the assorted tools, it's somewhat labor intensive. First, you have to open the tool cover, select the tool you want, then pull it into the open position.
The problem I have stems from the fact that not all of the tools are easily opened individually. Pull one open and several of the others come out too. Depending on what tools come out, you have to be careful when pushing the unneeded tools back so as not to cut yourself. And no, I didn't, but it was close... ;-)
I am way less than impressed with the locking mechanism. You have to make a conscious effort to ensure that any given tool is actually locked. Yes, another close call. By contrast, the tools on my Gerber are all easily accessible and are locked into position with (in my opinion) a better locking mechanism. In all it's years of use, I never had a single tool fail to lock automatically nor has the locking mechanism ever failed. Given, too, is the fact the with the Gerber, although it does take two hands to open a tool, I can unlock, put the tool away, retract the pliers and re-holster it single handedly.
Now, I honestly bought this truly wanting to like it. To me, in the beginning, the SOG was the Holy Grail of multi-tools. It has no weaknesses in terms of the variety or quality of the tools. The saw is like, 3" of pure wickedness! It's simply their implementation I don't care for.
I will get use out of this tool, to be sure. But I'm going to replace my aging Gerber... with another Gerber.
Now, a quick word about the seller I went with. Tooltopia. (Website by the same name) I was quite happy with the transaction, and in fact, I will be purchasing my new Gerber from them... um... well, next payday...

Summary: A great multi tool
Comment: I purchased this tool on the brand alone. Sog makes great kit and this was a welcome addition to mine.
Its bigger than my leatherman with a better set of pliers. When closed, the teeth on the pliers fit together so well you could use it like a pair of tweezers. The power grip works. Know your own strength and don't use this on plastic parts or markable surfaces.
My leatherman was a disappointing in the blade department. This tool is razor sharp, but the blade was thinner than expected. Don't expect to be prying anything open with this blade. (Not that you should anyway)
SOG didn't skimp on the case either. No flimsy nylon case here. This tool comes with a heavy(1/8 inch thick) treated leather case.
If you were worried about getting what you paid for, worry not, this is a great tool and well worth the money.

Comment: I used to carry a well known name brand multi-tool myself until I found a couple superior options ( based on 30+ years as a fire fighter, police officer and bomb disposal ( EOD ) technician ). I have owned most every multi tool out there and abused them all ( that's why the good ones have a lifetime warranty . ) and the two best for the money are the SOG Powerlock S60 and the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife SwissTool RS - don't waste your money on anything else - " Leather Guy" can't come close to a SOG or Victorinox in performance and Warranty - in my opinion and EXPERIENCE !!!

Comment: I bought this as a christmas gift for my husband and he has used it everyday since. He said it has come in handy quite a few times at work and he is very happy with how well it is made. He is particularly happy with the fact that the blades lock when they are being used so they can't close up on you like some of the other multi tools do. I am very happy with my purchase.
