Summary: Great for Macs and PC's
Comment: This is the full "Grey" cable set, not the less expensive PC-only "black" cable, with multiple serial connectors - thus the higher retail price. It works great on any PC or Mac with a serial port. On older Macs without a USB port, it's the only way to go. Great for labs or homes where both PC's and Macs are in use. Allows speedy downloads of programs to your calculator (check out ticalc dot org for lots of free software).

Comment: The TI Graph Link cable connects any TI graphing calculator (TI-73, TI-82, TI-83, TI-83 Plus, TI-85, TI-86, TI-89, TI-92, TI-92 Plus) to a PC or Mac so that you can transfer files back and forth between the two. This is a very handy thing to have. It is extremely useful for calculator backups (a good thing to do every once in a while in case your TI crashes), and you can download a bunch of stuff off the Net to put on your calculator. A good place to get TI programs is ... You can buy the cable by itself, or you can buy it with the Graph Link software. I imagine that the cable Amazon is selling comes with software. However, if it is just the cable, you can download the software from TI's home page at ...
The software for different calculators (I have linked to the TI-83, the TI-85, and the TI-86) is more or less the same; the confusing thing is that every calculator has a different procedure for linking. With some (such as the 86), you must be at the home screen; with others (such as the 85), you must be in receive (or send) mode.
One warning, however: This cable works with both Windows and Mac. If you're a Windows user, though, DO NOT buy this cable; ($) is way too much. Buy the Windows-only cable (Amazon also sells this), because it's much cheaper. If you're a Mac user, I don't think you have a choice. You must buy this one (or buy a PC, but that would be a bit overboard).
All in all, I would highly recommend buying a Graph Link. Make sure you have an available serial port (at least for the Windows cable), plug the cable in and go. Have fun playing Tetris. :-)

Comment: The Graph Link alows you to use your calculators in as many ways as you wish! The great number of software just waits on-line to download it. There is a lot of educational sowftware as well as games and other interesting things. Don't miss the opportunity!
