Cook's Illustrated provides readers with recipes, cooking techniques, and product and food recommendations exhaustively developed in our extensive Test Kitchen facility - the same kitchen featured on our cooking show, America's Test Kitchen. Included are best ways to prepare favorite American dishes -- from pot roast and chocolate chip cookies to grilled salmon and fruit cobbler. Best (and worst) cooking equipment -- from chef's knives to cookie sheets. Best brands -- from canned tomatoes to baking chocolate. Best cooking techniques - from brining shrimp to baking ham. And all of this is provided without a single page of advertising - just 100% cooking information.

Customer Rating: Summary: Don't buy magazines through Amazon Comment: I ordered a couple of magazines as gifts through Amazon, including Cook's Illustrated. A few months later, I started getting other magazines sent to me at my home address that I did not order. Then, charges for these magazines appeared on my credit card. I am still dealing with these mysterious charges on my credit card. Do not order magazines through Amazon - your credit card number will be up for grabs and you'll getting magazines you did not order.
Customer Rating: Summary: The finest Magazine ever Comment: Since 1993 Cook's Illustrated is the only magazine I have saved through 5 moves. It is a real treasure, with no advertising. No dazzling photographs of dishes that are impossible to attain. A very step by step explanation of the ingredients, cooking utensils, preparation techniques, time & temperature
This magazine is an inspiration to create.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great magazine needs Comment: an index...they are very concise, the back stories to the recipe testings are funny, entertaining, and great to read while, you wait for bread to rise, chicken to marinate, meat to brine, etc, etc.....my son loves all of the recipes I have made from this magazine (25 +), my picky eater husband also loves the recipes especially the chicken teriyaki (broiler method, plus I add honey to the sauce....), orange chicken, sichuan green beans with pork, dark chocolate cupcakes, cuban roast pork, mushroom risotto, easy oven roasted chicken, blueberry scones, brown sugar cookies, and the Christmas supper I prepared was also very good (though time consuming) shrimp bisque, beef tenderloin, mashed potatoes, flourless chocolate torte, on and on...you get the picture...drooooolllllll
the only problem you will have (if you want to see it as a problem)...is the expanding waistlines that your family will procure after you begin cooking these recipes...!
Customer Rating: Summary: Cook's Magazine Comment: Excellent mag with clear, practical, EXECUTABLE recipes that have been tested to avoid the usual pitfalls associated with many popular dishes. Outstanding illustrations and helpful product (tools and/or ingredients) recommendations. A big help for both novice and experienced cooks.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great magazine, terrible delivery on first issue Comment: I gave a subscription as a gift to a friend back in April. I was told that the first delivery would be sometime between July 11 and August 8 which I thought was unreasonable, but I let it go. It is now August 12 and I am being told that delivery would be 'by September 8' -- for the July/August issue! From now on I will be going directly to the publisher.
