Summary: Too fast, too rehearsed
Comment: Definitely not for a yoga beginner. The narration is twice as fast as I can actually do the poses and the narrator isn't actually doing them. The poses have been over-rehearsed and are too fast to follow. The music covers up the narrator part of the time. I have arthritis and other pain so I can't do the poses at breakneck speed. I'm giving my copy to a charity yard sale.

Summary: Amazing!
Comment: This is an amazing video for anyone, but especially for people with chronic pain, who cannot exercise normally. I highly recommend it - it is very soothing and the backdrop of the ocean and mountains is beautiful! Charles and Lisa Matkin lovingly teach you the basics of using yoga for pain relief and it has truly helped me.

Summary: An Excellent beginning DVD for those who 'hurt'
Comment: This DVD perfectly meets my desire for a guided program of yoga that addresses specific aches, pains and 'hurts'. The poses are adaptive, so that almost anyone can do them, but more challenging alternatives are offered as your flexibility improves. It's gentle, but you know you have used your body. I especially like the use of chairs to adapt, prop up or extend your reach.

I don't guarantee that you'll just spring up from your first session and be healed forever. In fact, as I crawled off my mat, I wondered if I'd be able to stand up! But within :30 or so, my body felt more relaxed and flexible. Within a week, I was feeling much better where it hurt- the lower back. I alternate this now with Dr. Lamm's 'Tai Chi for Arthritis' and feel that they compliment each other nicely. By taking it easy and working gradually into the routine, you can gain flexibility, better posture and yes, more painlessness.

Summary: Excellent to get started or get well
Comment: I love this DVD. The yoga is gentle, controlled and focuses on breathing and proper technique for healing the body. It is geared to beginners and to those with injuries and pain. Doing the workout on a regular basis has helped to restore flexibility and strength so that I can begin more intense workouts. If you're just looking to relax, this is a good way to get started as well.
