It'd be hard to imagine a happier wish than the one this jazz vocal legend offers her listeners on this urbane-yet-homey collection of holiday favorites. The First Lady of Song recorded these tunes in 1960, at the peak of her interpretive powers. As such, she puts her singular stamp on everything from a sultry vamp like "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve" to the sweet and cozy "The Christmas Song." Even potentially shopworn standards like "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town" sound fresher when they're coming from Ella Fitzgerald. --David Sprague

Comment: I was shocked to see this MP3 download at such a great price. 18 songs, some well known a few new to me. Ella jazzes up the songa in her own well known special way.
I am enjoying this album so much and it is a great addition to a traditional Christmas music collection.

Comment: My son at 5 declared that nobody sings Jingle Bells like Ella Fitzgerald. This cd was a must for us. Bing certainly popularized Christmas music and the crooners backed it up, but Ella gives Christmas style.

Comment: I'm crazy about Ella Fitzgerald and Christmas is a very special time of the year for me, so this is perfect! I didn't know it existed. I've found it here at Amazon and I went crazy when I saw it. It's adorable to hear Ella singing Chrstimas songs!

Comment: I got this CD just before Christmas 2007 and it is so good I am still playing it in the car on Easter!!! My favorite song on this CD is Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, "Hang down your nose Rudy, hang down your nose and cry." I can't resist singing along.
