YOSHIMASA MATSUDA, Hanshi 9th Dan
OKINAWA'S UNKNOWN WARRIOR!
The First Time on Video! Yoshimasa Matsuda, Okinawa's unknown warrior, demonstrates his Shorin Ryu Myobukan Karate style on this exciting new video series filmed in Tomari, Okinawa. This video is by one of Okinawas most technically and knowledgeable Shorin Ryu Karateka, Yoshimasa Matsuda,9th Dan. Matsuda Sensei has been compared to Gojus Morio Higaonna technically and his power and speed are second to none as is demonstrated in this video. Yoshimasa Matsuda is an extraordinary martial artist and is virtually unknown outside of Okinawa. His skill and power distinguish him from the other Okinawan Karate Masters. He studied Kobayashi Shorin Ryu under Shugoro Nakazato Sensei and Tomarite Shorin Ryu under Shinjo Sensei. Additionally, Matsuda sensei practices Judo and Okinawan Sumo. He was a member of the Okinawan Judo team that defeated Japan in 1967. Matsuda sensei is famous for his demonstrations and feats of strength in Okinawa where he has pitted himself against sumo wrestlers and other karate masters. This is the first time that his unique brand of Shorin Ryu Karate has been seen outside of the island of Okinawa. This video is easy to follow for all levels from beginners to advanced.

Tape I This video showcases Matsuda sensei's 17 kata including Pinan 1- 5, Naihanchi 1- 3, Passai dai & Sho, Kusanku Dai & Sho, Chinto, and Gojushiho. It also includes three completely new kata. The first one is called Myobuken which emphasizes throwing techniques, choking and joint locking. The second kata is called Seiru and emphasizes kuzushi or unbalancing techniques. The third kata is called Fujite and includes advanced throwing, locking and choking techniques. 60 min.
