Summary: Great Stick Defense
Comment: I received this DVD as a gift recently and thought it was fantastic. The wrist locking portion was a bit hard to follow, but the stick defense portion is outstanding. Both sections of the DVD contain around 15 or 20 techniques to practice with a partner. I don't think anybody would be disappointed with this DVD. Even an experienced martial artist can pick up useful material here.

Summary: Not necessarily two for one...
Comment: I just received my DVD of this title, and I will just add that the DVD I received does NOT contain 'combat strategy' in addition to the information on wrist/arresting locks. I am very disappointed, as this was a major incentive to buy the DVD. I have Master Kim's book on Junsado Combat Strategy, which is great... having the information on DVD would be great, but it was not included. To be fair, the DVD was not advertised as such, but based on a few of the other reviews here, I expected the extra information as a bonus. Perhaps Turtle Press rethought the idea of giving so much on one DVD. Caveat emptor.

Summary: great addition to my dvd collection
Comment: I have a background in hapkido, which helped immensely in understanding the nuances of the techniques taught here. If you know a bit about locking techiniques and have a partner who will let you experiment, you will definitely pick a few new things here. I especially like the emphasis on flow and using my partner's movement/resistance to disorient and control him. You won't find any fancy throws like those of hapkido but you will learn some very painfully effective locks and takedowns that force compliance without inflicting permanent damage.

Summary: Not a good purchase
Comment: All the techniques were virtually the same. There were just variation of the same techniques repeated to many times. These techniques are good, but the DVD is pretty limited in his explanations. The good point is that you will know their name in Chinese... but the rest of the DVD does not worth the price.
