Supports lumber and other loads 10ft. to 18ft. long. 4ft. long steel extension fits any truck with a Class III receiver hitch. Bed level adjusts from 16in. to 23in. up from the hitch. Roof level adjusts from 55in. to 62in. up from the hitch. Not only extends length of truck bed, but can be adjusted to match truck roof height! 4ft. wide support beam has height adjustment of 6 1/2in. and holds up to 350 lbs. Comment: I purchased the extend a truck Extender for Kayaks, and I am extremely happy with this product. I ordered it from Amazon, and actually called the compay directly and ordered the roof rack accessory (Turbo-Rack). I called Monday morning and Both pieces arrived by 2pm Tuesday. I am primarily using it for kayaks, but will also occasionally us it for long pieces of lumber. I've found that you can take care of it "rattling and being loose" by using straps crossed from the extra holes in the adjustable "T". This is normal as you have to do the same thing with Yakima and Tule's and this is $60-80 cheaper ! I also recommend checking into Turbo-Rack, it's a cheaper alternative to Yakima and Tule and is just as effective! [...]

Summary: truck bed extender
Comment: Good product. Very sturdy and should support heavy weights with no problems. Because of this it is a bit heavy to tote around, but the two piece construction makes this OK. I got it mostly to haul kayaks and canoes so the weight is not much of an issue for me so far. Very happy with the product and the purchase.

I saw a woman at a kayak launching spot with one on her mini-SUV and had to ask her about it! Seems she has been turning friends (and strangers!) onto it since she got hers just by them seeing it in use! And now I will be following suit! EVERY kayak shop should carry these...Thank you for this awesome helper!

Summary: Was all I'd hoped for
Comment: We have a 4 door pick up with a 5 1/2 foot bed. We own two canoes, one is 15 feet long and the other is 17 feet long. For years we have put them on top of the truck which made it difficult to reach and limited us to using only one at a time, or we had to borrow other peoples trailers. We looked at purchasing a small trailer, but they are so expensive we couldn't justify the money. Then we saw the Darby 944 Extend-A-Truck extender, so we ordered it. We are pleased with the quality of the product as it is made of heavy steel and very sturdy. We have used it several times and are thrilled with the fact that we can now haul both our canoes and they're at waist level which makes them easier to maneuver. We find that with just a few straps, especially on the sides, that both canoes ride piggy-back on the extender and are very secure with very little movement. We also purchased a small light to clip onto the end of the canoes in case we find ourselves traveling in the dark. We love how easy it is to adjust, remove and store. We are very happy with the Extend-A-Truck. We give it an A+.
