Summary: WTF forms, not detailed, but worth it for the inspiration
Comment: Those who buy this DVD should be aware of the title: Beginner Taekwondo. Do not expect it to cover advanced techniques!

With regard to actually assisting a beginner I have actually found this to be somewhat helpful but not nearly detailed enough. If by now you are on a remote island, far away from instructors, you may find this DVD very helpful but with the popularity of martial arts in the US, you'd be far better off with assistance from personal training. Note that the spelling is Taekwondo. This indicates that this is of the WTF version. The facility where I practice uses mostly ITF techniques (we spell it Tae Kwon Do). You will need to learn the proper techniques as your own instructor teaches. Our stances are different and some hand techniques are different (and we use many more hand techniques). One-steps and basic sparring rules are also different.

I was dissapointed that the actual tournament sparring footage was so short.

Mr. Kim is impressive and inspiring. His kicks are lightning fast and impressive. His abilities encouraged me to improve my own kicking. I loved seeing his partner abused during many of the demonstrations. The DVD is worth it just for that inspiration alone.

Summary: Beginner TKD
Comment: This instructional DVD was a nice addition to my martial arts collection. It is meant for the person who has no previous experience. I would buy it on sale or discount.

Summary: Decent for Beginners
Comment: This Instructional Taekwondo DVD is fairly basic. It lays out just the simple moves that you can learn as a beginner. It's drawback is that it doesn't give you much of a step-by-step guide. You're pretty much left to figure out how to do it yourself and while most of the moves are easy enough, there are some that require repeated rewinding and pausing to be able to get it down just right.

Still, if you're looking for something to help you start, this is a pretty decent DVD.
