Editorial Reviews:

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is the next chapter to Knights of the Old Republic saga. It's five years after the first game and the Jedi are being crushed by the Sith. The twisted wreck named Darth Sion will bring down the Republic, unless a lone Jedi can reconnect with the Force. You will guide this Jedi and make an important decision: Do you follow the Light or succumb to the Dark?

Summary: Dissapointing when inevitably comparing it with the original
Comment: The original is one of my favorites ever. When I beat this I couldn't help feel disappointed. It just lacks on so many levels. First off the story is no where near as good as the first, but its not terribly bad. They probably could have made it better but it is often confusing and not all that interesting.

This one is much darker than the first which might please people. Everything else though isn't an improvement over the first though. The graphics are actually worse than the first. The game was rushed for the holidays though, still there's no excuse for the weak graphics and glitches this game has.

The characters, while pretty good just don't compare to the original. My main issue with the characters though is one character, which shouldn't even be in the game is GOTO. He doesn't offer anything to the game and is useless. It could have been better but they didn't do anything with him. Another character HK you can barely use until midway through the game, and that's if your lucky, I didn't get to use him at all. You have to spend the whole game getting parts to fix him. The rest of the characters are decent though.

Another issue is you don't get your lightsaber until about half way through the game. You spend too much time getting out of problems the story gets you into. For instance, probably the worst start to any game I have ever played is you start off on a mining station called Peragus. It takes a while until you get off and it's really frustrating. Then when you think your out you get blamed for the destruction of it, so you become under house arrest and it takes too long for the game to get going.

While this game may be more challenging overall than the first, the sith lords aren't even difficult or challenging. The game builds up for nothing. The other huge problem is the ending. I wont ruin the details but nothing happens. It's an extremely disappointing ending. You think that since you put so much time and effort into the game they would give you a decent ending but they don't. So play the original and don't buy this unless it is decently priced, it doesn't end up being worth 40 or 50 bucks.

Summary: Better then the 1st.
Comment: When I played this game the 1st way through I'd give it 3 stars, but each time i play this game, I get a better experience and learned to love the different characters, new features, and locations more and more. Anyone who gives it 3 or below hasn't played it twice, or spent time exploring the new features such as Influence(stroke of genus) work bench buff's and overall game interface. But there are negatives, it was rushed, the game play curve can take up to 3 entire play throughs, but this can be a good thing.

Summary: Not The Original...
Comment: My problem with KOTOR:II is the whole "I've got to start all over" feel to the game. There should have been a way for the game to acknowledge that you played through the first in the series, and allowed the player to level up faster or skip certain aspects. It would have felt like a "true sequel" that way. It is still a great game, but it is not the original. My hope is for a better follow-up on the 360 platform.

Summary: Ahh starwars!
Comment: If your a big Star Wars person ... the game is probabally flawless to you. However for those of us who were just looking for a good game this one fits the bill. It is not made as well as the first in the series but its a nice carry on for the story and more light sabre and force power fun.
