Summary: Educational
Comment: The Tang Soo Do forms are priceless. I've watched the Tang Soo Do forms on video tape (GM Nathan Daniels) with enthusiasm and interest and finding a manual with the forms, very necessary.

Tang Soo Do has a rich set of forms. Many of the forms are counters defense against weapons using empty hand and kicking techniques. Tang Soo Do forms have alot of energy. The value of having a manual helps in the following ways: 1. the practitioner can visualize the foot movement patterns, hand strike combinations, kick postures, and breath instructions, easier 2. the still frame posture images express knowledge to the skilled observer 3. and the author written explanation helps the reader understand the purpose for the technique and how it should be performed 4. the written information preserves the memory of the form in a concise and quick reference document. A practitioner may have be devoid of practice and quickly reference the document to help restore memory lapses.

Tang Soo Do forms have amazing power, breath control, explosive linear punching combinations, high and low blocks, deceptive kicking, undulation of hips into the blocks and strikes, good movement front and back and left and right, a well balanced symetry in the foot pattern movement, and direct and efficient self defense application. There seems to be a chinese influence in the Tang Soo Do movements. The circular movements transitioning between various blocking and striking movements are definately fluid and close seemingly open gaps. I relate and understand many of the Tang Soo Do techniques.

The forms of Tang Soo Do emphasis evasion, agressive attacks, and uniquiness of movement as imposed by treachous terrain. I feel better having learn more about the purpose and movement of Tang Soo Do and its rationale behind the system.
