Customer Rating: Summary: Great Razor! Comment: Have had this razor a few months now, and it's been perfect. I bought it to replace the Braun razor I've had for the past few years, for which I was always having to spend $4 a month on for the cleaning fluid. This one is more like I'm used to...free cleaning. Gives a cleaner shave as well. With the Braun, it just didn't shave certain types of hairs, and I'd have to pull them out with tweezers. This one just lops everything off...no problem, and close. Perfect razon, and great price as well. Customer Rating: Summary: Excelent performance Comment: I've been user of philips shavers for several years. At this time, I bought the Norelco 8140XL and I've been using it for 3 weeks, and now I can say that this shaver is an excelent cost-value product. The most remarkable features are:

- Long battery life
- The cutting heads do not overheat
- Close an confortable shaves
I have no doubts. A five stars product. Customer Rating: Summary: After about a week... Comment: It seems as if it's way weaker than my older 8825xl and it seems that it takes more time to clean the neck than if I would have used the 8825. It does get rid of facial hair better though and that's what counts the most. I like the overall design and the blue led is a nice touch. Haven't noticed the advertised effect of the 50% shaving surface, oh well. Customer Rating: Summary: the steady decline of Norelco.... Comment: I don't know whether Philips has had anything to do w/ it, but this Speed-XL is the worst Norelco i've owned to date. I'm 42, medium bearded, and this is my 4th Norelco since i was 18. They've gotten progressively slicker looking and quieter, but i make so many passes over the same spots to pick up whiskers it's RIDICULOUS. I could go on and on, but suffice to say it just isn't worth the money. Wish i could recommend an alternative, maybe AMF will branch out THIS time from bowling balls and football helmets to electric shavers! Customer Rating: Summary: What a joke, don't waste your money! Comment: First off, let me say that the unit was extremely quiet and looks nice. It is funny that it has SPEED in the name. It took forever to cut sufficiently. You have to keep going over and over the same spot to get everything. It also doesn't cut as close as a blade and not nearly as fast. It went back to Norelco asap.
