Editorial Reviews:

Killer Katanas 2 is a set of wargame rules for recreating Samurai Warfare in Japan during the Sengoku Jidai or Japan's "Age of a Country at War" with model soldiers. The rules provide all the details necessary to fight any battle in Japan from 1550 to 1615; during the age when Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu contested other Daimyo for rulership of Japan. The game is played with model soldiers representing the armies of the taishos. Each stand of soldiers represents 150 men on foot or 75 men on horses and the ground scale is 1 inch equals 100 feet. The rules allow any sized battle, from a small battle such as Nagakute, to the titanic battle of Tennoji, to be recreated on the tabletop. Included in this 120 page book is army lists to allow a player to create their favorite Daimyo's army along with information describing how to use the different clans on the tabletop, a complete listing of over 500 Daimyos and their abilities, tactical uses for 22 samurai battle formations and 10 scenarios: 4th Kawanakajima, 2nd Konodai, Mimasetoge, Nunobeyama, Anegawa, Mikata-ga-hara, Nagashino, Okitanawate, Hitotori Bridge and Sekigahara. The game is played in turns. A turn consists of 16 cards; each side has 8 cards (4 infantry and 4 cavalry) in the deck. Cards are turned over one at a time and will state who may move and the distances they may move. During play of a card a unit may perform an action; firing, melee and personal challenges are all examples of actions. After all 16 cards have been played the turn is over. Eventually one side will emerge as the victor--will your side be the one? Will your tactics be superior to beat your opponent? Do you have what it takes to become Shogun of Japan? Play Killer Katanas 2 and find out.

Summary: Great game and historic information too!
Comment: Its really 2 books in 1. A great set of rules for 15mm samurai, but also contains a wealth of historic information including orders of battle and maps for numerous samurai battles from 1500-1615. A must for anyone interested in recreating samurai battles in miniature.

From the Miniatures Page:
" The goal of KK2 is to allow larger battles of the samurai to be fought.

It was written for use with 15mm figures, but it can be easily played with 6mm or 25mm by adjusting the method of measurement (the rules include how to do this).

Included in the 120-page book are army lists and rules for clans so that a player can recreate their favorite Daimyo's army on the tabletop, game uses for 22 tactical battle formations, ability ratings for over 500 Daimyo, siege rules, a scenario generator and 10 scenarios:

4th Kawanakajima
2nd Konodai
Mimasetoge
Nunobeyama
Anegawa
Mikatagahara
Nagashino
Okitanawate
Hitotori Bridge, and
Sekigahara
The scale is 1 base equals 150 men on foot or 75 mounted, and the ground scale is 1" to 100 feet. A larger scale is provided for titanic battles. Armies based to WRG, DBM or DBR can use the rules with no rebasing."
