Editorial Reviews:

Hardwood Dreams, Vol. 1 picks up where Hoop Dreams left off. This time, the subjects are the Varsity basketball team of Inglewood, California’s Morningside High School. Take a season-long look at the Los Angeles City Champs of 1992 as they battle gangs, egos, underage drinking, jealousy, brushes with the law and SATs as they pursue back-to-back championships. This in-depth film tackles the societal pressures of an inner-city group of men with a common goal. Hardwood Dreams, Vol. 2 gives us a complete update on the Morningside starting five, 10 years later. What becomes of the high school stars? Do any of them make it to the NBA? Did all of the hard work pay off? In this 2-volume set, you will get the answers to all of these questions and many more.

Summary: Great basketball documentaries
Comment: I saw these movies at the Heartland Film Festival in Indianapolis in 2004, and I really enjoyed them. Of course, any basketball movies in my home state of Indiana will be a hit, but these two documentaries show a different side of the game that we don't see in Hoosiers. They show us that not all dreams become reality and that sometimes the best and the brightest end up as the biggest disappointments.
