Summary: hardcore workout
Comment: I am fairly new to kickboxing. I found this video to be surprisingly easy to follow. Keith Cooke and Kathy Smith give great instructions on how to kick, punch etc. properly as not to increase the risk of potential injury. I found the workout to be fun and different. The Aerobox workout was actually pretty intense. When I first watched it, I laughed at how easy I "thought" it would be. Needless to say about 20minutes in I was on the couch with water. Overall, I think this is a great video with easy to follow cues. The music could be better.

Comment: I want to give an unbiased review, so I'll just say that this is the best boxing/kickboxing DVD known to humankind!

Working with seasoned pros Michael Olajide and Keith Cooke, Kathy Smith takes you through the basics of boxing and kickboxing, then provides two solid, sweaty workouts. This makes the DVD perfect for beginner and experienced exercisers alike. With a bonus tai chi-inspired stretch routine by popular instructor Keli Roberts, and a quick energising tai chi workout by Keith Cooke, "Cardio Knockout" is not only excellent value for money, but the kind of workout DVD you can use in different ways for years to come.

As I'm pretty uncoordinated, I always thought that kickboxing would be too difficult for me to learn. But this DVD makes it easy - you can start with the four basic punches demonstrated by Michael Olajide, then add the kicks, which are expertly broken down and demonstrated by Keith Cooke. The kickboxing workout employs simple punch/kick combinations; there are no lengthy choreographed routines to learn here. During the kickboxing workout, Keith sometimes appears in a split screen with form tips.

The boxing workout is filmed in an industrial setting - you can see flashes of arc welding in the background. This, plus the driving music and occasional segments filmed in black-and-white, gives the workout a tough, gritty feeling.

If you're looking for a tough cardio workout without dancey moves or complicated choreography and which can be performed using a minimum of space, you can't go past either of the routines on "Cardio Knockout". The only caveat I would offer is that you shouldn't do the workouts on carpet; as there is a lot of pivoting, you run the risk of torquing your knees. I put down rubber puzzle mats on top of the carpet so I can really go to town!

Summary: I love this workout!
Comment: This is a great workout! I still can't get through all of the Aeroboxing workout! The jump rope kills me, but in a good way! I'm not a huge fan of the Tai Chi workouts, that's why I gave it 4 stars. I would rather do some yoga afterwards. But that's my own preference. I think the instructors are great and the workouts leave me sore in all the right ways! Great workouts!

Summary: does nothing for me.....
Comment: i got so frustrated at the slowness & was completely bored with this video. it's definitely NOT the video for me. i couldn't even make it all the way through because the pace is weird. it just seems so lame, i didn't even start to break a sweat. and it seemed like when that might be possible a segment would end & she spends all this time talking & showing how to do moves. while i appreciate being taught proper execution, i don't like it being done in the middle of the workout. so every time i pop the video in i have to have my "workout" interupted with that? i don't think so. i will sell this video at my local used cd/dvd store if they'll take it.

i am disappointed because of the misleading good reviews. if you are in good shape then you will probably hate this video. maybe people in poor or fair condition think it's a good workout & it may be for them but i think you can do much better. this is not my style. i like fast paced & intense, but easy to execute. i also prefer no-nonsense effective workouts over dancy or complicated ones. but above all i certainly don't want to waste time standing around with my thumb up my you-know-what like you end up doing in this video. you need to keep moving during cardio or it is not effective.

I suggest the biggest loser videos for cardio. they are easy to do (no complicated moves) but you will be huffing, puffing, sweating & burning calories for sure. I also love jari love's videos. She is my favorite, no other videos compare to hers. They all use light weights but there are lots of reps. You get a total body workout. after a few months i got very toned, tight, lean muscles doing her videos. and i always break a sweat during her videos (so you know you are burning calories too!)

Summary: Nice surprise!!
Comment: I'd been looking for the DVD copy of Kathy's Aerobox video for quite awhile. My VHS copy saw me through several years of fitness obsession until it finally died on me, and I was so sad that I couldn't find it on DVD. Imagine my surprise when I get the Cardio Knockout and find Aerobox hiding on there! Aerobox is a pretty hard workout (and you can't easily modify it to be low-impact), but its broken down into a bunch of segments, so the time actually goes pretty fast. Its a nice way to add some intensity to your workout routine, although I wouldn't recommend it if you have bad knees and joints.

The kickboxing workout is great too, but nothing can take the place of Aerobox in my heart.
