Summary: Very pleased
Comment: Really nice unit that fit my needs perfectly. I wanted a machine that would very quickly and reliably scan documents to my pc, but also be versatile enough to send a few faxes a day and perform light printing. The machine is very fast. Does a great job. I highly recommend for someone not needing color printing. I am very pleased with the quality of the machine and it's performance.

Summary: Great printer, just a little trouble at setup
Comment: This is a great printer for all the features.

What's great about it:
-Copies faster than my older Lexmark printer/copier
-Scans faster than my old machine
-Copy and scan functions are easy to use
-It is very quiet compared to the Dell Laser printer I also have
-Double sided printing is great
-After I got the printer working, I shared it from my XP machine and was able to print over the network from my Vista laptop with no problem.

The trouble with it:
-I followed the installation steps, installing the software first, etc. But when I connected it to my Windows XP machine, the computer couldn't recognize the device. I restarted, unplugged, reinstalled the drivers, and it didn't work. I was pretty disappointed. I tried plugging the printer into a different USB port on my computer and it worked. I know the first USB port works fine because I've had my other printer and other devices plugged in there.
-The old Dell Laser printer I have sends the printed paper out the top of the machine so there is lots of space to store prints. On the Canon, the pages come out the side, so it can't put as many prints out until they start to slide out.
-The printer is rather tall, so if vertical space is an issue, you might have trouble. It does still out a little more in the office.

Summary: MF4150 Duplex print issue
Comment: So I currently have Canon i9900 photo printer that is great. It is our only printer, so when my daughter wants to print coloring pages from the Internet, it can be expensive with the i9900 creating black from all of the expensive cartridges. With that in mind we wanted to find a laser all-in-one so that we would occasionally scan and frequently print double-sided pages.

After reading reviews on the MF4150 I went to my local Staples and
purchased the unit. The unit hooked up to my Vista machine without issue and I was able to get it to work within minutes. The duplexing feature being the main attraction to buying this unit, I tried it out right away. Looking at the 2-sided page you could plain as day see that the 2nd page was crooked. Figuring it might have something to do with the paper I was using, I switched it and tried again....same thing. Figuring I had just got a bad unit, I returned to Staples and got a replacement MF4150. SAME THING. Crooked slanted duplexing output. I am surprised no one else has mentioned this as it has to be related to the poor quality duplexer in the unit.

FYI, when I saw that Staples had the latest version of this unit available, I think it was the MF4250?, I went and bought it. Again SAME THING. Crooked 2-sided output.

I am desperate to find a <$300 Laser all-in-one that can duplex normally.

Scanning software is not very user-friendly. The package does not include the USB cable.
Overall, I am happy with the machine.

Summary: Great for Home Office NOT the Office
Comment: I bought this last year after thanksgiving for our home office so my wife could work from the house while she was on maternity leave. IT IS GREAT!!! Printing quality if professional. Scanning . . . I can't say enough, it has document feeding capability for scanning so you can scan LARGE documents in seconds (on the lower scan settings). This machine isn't really designed for photos but I even put photos in the feed through scanner and it worked great for lower quality scans and doing them one at a time yielded near perfect results. The fax portion is not very user friendly but is functional for home office use. We have found we use the copier part more than we expected for home use, making copies of receipts and materials. As everyone else has said, duplexing is also a great feature that we use regularly.

My ONLY complaints are: 1) the glass is only letter size instead of legal size (you can still scan loose legal through the feeder but I like to copy two pages of a book onto one side of paper and can't do with this size glass even when zoomed out); 2) THIS IS NOT FOR REGULAR OFFICE USE the Cartridge won't last long enough - I'm just now replacing the cartridge at home (1 year later) and I feel like I've done a ton of printing but nothing like a regular office.

Its perfect for an all-in-one home office printer/fax/copier/scanner.
