Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent Game Comment: I run this game on an iMac 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD 2600 Graphics Processor, OS 10.5.5 (Leopard) and it runs at max settings just fine. I an not a multiplayer so this review concerns only the single player mode. Other reviewers seem to have had problems runnning this game on laptops so your mileage may vary.
I am a real fan of the Call of Duty series and this is the best so far. The graphics are stunning and I had a hard time at first because I would just stand and look around- BANG! I had the same trouble with Halo at first, too. The various missions are well designed and don't seem repetitive, I'm sure the developers used common modules over and over but they were well disguised. There was a minimum of the maze-like hallways and streets that plague other games of this type. Weapons and their effects were well modeled. I especially like the way health is handled in the later COD releases. No more wandering around looking for health pacs! I recommend this game to anyone who likes a well done first person shooter and has a Mac that will run it. I'm ready for the next one.
Customer Rating: Summary: Doesn't run on most Macs Comment: What they don't tell you in print large enough to see is that this game will not run on Mac minis or MacBooks. It is called Mac compatible, but it is only compatible with the big Mac Pro. They should take this game off the market as being Mac compatible until it really is.
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent port of COD4 Comment: Works perfectly on my 2008 iMac at a fairly high resolution. The game is super fun in single player, and especially fun on multiplayer. If you want a first person shooter game for your iMac, this one is a must-have.
Customer Rating: Summary: good game, great online play Comment: This game is great, totally fantastic. I really should not have bought it, i haven't done school work in weeks. Still great game.
Customer Rating: Summary: crappy mac port, runs slower than on xp boot camp partition. Comment: I would first like to say that I love this game; the game itself is amazing. I have an xp partition on my Macbook Pro that I created with Boot Camp for the express purpose of playing games. The reason I am writing this review is so people, like myself, don't buy the game for Mac. It runs much faster on windows. The developers decided it would be better to port the game over instead of develop it for the mac platform so...it sucks. When I installed it on my Mac side it lagged with settings all the way down, aside from resolution. I have three gigs of ram and 256mbs on my video card. It should have been fine. Anyway, I pirated the game first to see if it was worth re buying for the Mac and it isn't. So be forewarned.
