Summary: For Pride
Comment: This is a so so event that will really only appeal to Pride fans. Aside from a couple of names that American die hard MMA fans will recognize, it is a fairly lackluster card. Officially called Yarennoka - New Years Eve 2007, this event takes place in Japan on New Yorks Eve. An 8 fight card that is anchored by the freak show main event and only drawing power of the card. Pride always had a freakshow event, which was fine since the rest of the card was so strong with Shogun, Wand, Mirko, etc. This card however just has the Fedor fight along with an old Murilo Bustamante and a lackluster Gilbert Melendez. I also didn't like that they used the Pride ring and time keeping and scoring, but they took away the stomps, soccer kicks and downed knees. It was nice to see Fedor, but outside of that, this card doesn't offer much.
